Report: Unemployment Drops Slightly

May 30, 2005

The number of unemployed people has dropped slighty in May, according to a report by German news agency DPA. 4.807 million people were without jobs, the wire service said on Monday. That's 161,000 people less than in April but 514,000 people more than in May 2005. The unemployment rate dropped to 11.6 percent from 12 percent as a result. Experts said that the drop in unemployment is mainly due to an increase in employment that's typical for spring.
