German retailers got nothing but losses during the Christmas period. In December, their sales dropped by 3.1 percent compared with the previous year, the German Statistical Office said in Wiesbaden on Monday. The drop helped fuel the retailers' first yearly decrease in sales since 1997. Sales fell 2 percent in 2002 compared with 2001, according to the agency.
