In the Indonesian province of Aceh, the local parliament unanimously passed a law this week that allows for Muslims who commit adultery to be stoned to death.

The law will also allow for severe sentences for rape, homosexuality, alcohol consumption and gambling.

The move has raised concern among human rights activists, who say the law is cruel and degrading to humanity.

It has been passed just weeks before a moderate Aceh Party is due to take power in the provincial assembly.
