Robots impress at China's World Humanoid Robot Games

A mechanical sprinter that beats the human world record in a 100 m sprint: At the second World Humanoid Robot Games, Usain Bolt's world record wasn't the only human benchmark that the robots smashed with ease.

China's Humanoid Robot Games returned to Beijing for a second year, featuring 51 events ranging from sports competitions to obstacle-course challenges. Spectators praised the rapid advances in robotics as humanoid robots performed backflips, cartwheels and other complex movements. While supporters see the Games as a showcase of innovation, critics view them as a display of China's engineering ambitions.
