Robots in the classroom

Robots in the classroom? At the Aurinkolahti school in Helsinki it’s already a reality. Pupils there are taught programming and even foreign languages by bionic tutors

In 2006 Aldebaran Robotics made a major breakthrough: the unveiling of a “social robot” that can interact with humans. Now various companies are working on similar programs. The Hilton chain of hotels has a robot serving as a concierge, greeting guests and recommending restaurants and tourist attractions. Henn-na in Japan is said to be the world’s first hotel run by robots – which include a metal-clad Tyrannosaurus Rex.
