Nico Rosberg will start in pole position in tomorrow's US Grand Prix next to team-mate Lewis Hamilton. Slightly more than one-third of a second - that was the difference between Rosberg and Hamilton in Texas.

Mercedes' one-two triumph sets up an intriguing situation between the two men who are vying for the title. Going into the race, Hamilton led Rosberg by seventeen points in the drivers' championship with only three events left to be run. Hamilton has won the four preceding races.

Wlliams driver Valtteri Bottas was more than 0.8 seconds behind Rosberg in third. He shares the second row with his teammate Felipe Massa. Red Bull's Daniel Riccardo was fifth, and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso sixth.

The final race of the season the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in late November is worth double points, so the competition for the drivers' chanmpionship is likely to go down to the final day.
