US health authorities have warned that 10 African countries are at risk in the Ebola epidemic. There may be hope on the horizon: British scientists say a vaccine for this Ebola variant could soon be ready for testing.

New Ebola cases in Uganda include a driver who transported the first patient, a health worker and another traveler from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outbreak is linked to a rare Bundibugyo strain, which has no approved vaccine and kills about one-third of people infected. More than 80 cases have been confirmed in Congo; suspected infections and deaths are far higher.

Scientists at Oxford are fast-tracking a vaccine, aiming for trials within months, as efforts continue to slow the spread.
