Russia and the European Union meet to improve relations and discuss energy supplies

Russian president Dmitri Medvedev is meeting European Union leaders in Sweden - which currently holds the EU's rotating presidency. Energy security is high on the agenda with the EU keen to ensure there is no disruption of gas supplies from Russia this winter. The summit is also being viewed as an opportunity to repair strained relations between Moscow and Europe.
