Russia launches Eurovision rival music contest after ban

Banned from the Eurovision Song Contest since its 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Russia has now launched its own, globally aligned show, called Intervision. The final took place in the Russian capital Moscow this weekend.

Russia has revived its own international song contest, Intervision, bringing together artists from over 20 countries — including India, Brazil and South Africa. With participants representing more than half the world's population, the event signals Moscow's push for cultural influence beyond the West. But can Intervision rival the global appeal of Eurovision?
