Kyiv faced deadly overnight strikes as drones and missiles hit the city, killing one and cutting power for over a million people. Kyiv’s mayor says thousands of buildings lack heating amid freezing temperatures after the latest Russian strikes on Ukraine. 

Kharkiv was also heavily targeted, damaging homes, a maternity hospital and a hostel. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has renewed calls for stronger air defenses.
