Russia pauses attacks on Kyiv during cold spell

Russia has agreed to pause strikes on Kyiv until Sunday. This comes after US President Donald Trump asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt attacks on Ukraine's energy grid for a week because of the extreme winter cold.

Russia has hit Ukraine's Kherson region with hundreds of drones, deepening nationwide power outages as extreme cold grips the country.

US President Donald Trump has said he urged Vladimir Putin to pause strikes on Kyiv, a halt Ukraine has welcomed but many citizens doubt will last.

As temperatures drop further, Russia is now targeting key transport routes, including roads and rail lines.
