Russia has rejected international criticism of its pullback from Georgia saying its activites are in line with a ceasefire deal. Russia has withdrawn its troops from many areas of the country but is keeping - what it says are "peacekeepers" - in buffer zones around the break-away regions of south ossetia and abkhazia. The United States has called on Moscow to withdraw from all undisputed areas of Georgia proper.
