Latvia's parliamentary election is being shaped by fears of Russian aggression and the war in Ukraine. While most parties back stronger defenses, they differ on whether remaining ties with Russia should be maintained.

As  Latviaheads to parliamentary elections, security and the threat from neighboring Russia dominate the campaign. With Russia's war in Ukraine reshaping public debate, many voters see national defense as a top priority. The party of Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs leads in the polls, emphasizing military preparedness and border security. While most parties support reducing ties with Russia, some argue for maintaining limited trade links. From concrete anti-tank barriers known as "dragon's teeth" to increased border defenses, Latvia is preparing for potential threats as voters decide the country’s future direction.
