Foreign Minister Lavrov has described the attack on the deputy chief of Russia's military intelligence as an apparent terrorist act by Ukraine aimed at derailing peace talks. There's been no comment so far from Kyiv.

A senior Russian military intelligence general, Vladimir Alekseyev, was shot in his Moscow apartment building in what investigators call an assassination attempt. Neighbors reported waking to gunfire and cries for help. Russian officials blame Kyiv, calling it a provocation. Alekseyev, a key figure in Russia's war effort, is the latest high‑ranking officer targeted since the invasion of Ukraine.
