According to reports, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov died in the capital Moscow around 7 a.m. local time. Russia’s Investigative Committee says it's looking for a link to Ukrainian intelligence services.

A senior Russian military officer, Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, was killed after a bomb exploded beneath his car, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. Residents described panic as emergency crews arrived. Investigators are probing possible motives, including suspected involvement of Ukrainian intelligence, amid a series of attacks on pro‑war figures since Russia's full‑scale invasion of Ukraine.
