Rwanda-backed M23 rebels pull out of Congo peace talks

An M23-led rebel alliance that has seized parts of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo blames European Union sanctions for stalling peace talks. Now, many in the mineral-rich region fear more violence.

The Rwandan-backed rebel alliance now controls one of the largest coltan mines in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, which UN experts say generates revenues of around $1 million.
