During Jean-Paul Sebuhayi's childhood in Rwanda, his grandfather was hospitalized with a lung disease. The hospital did not have electricity or proper running water, and his grandfather was kept in a room with a lone small window.
That experience is just one of the reasons Sebuhayi decided to not only become an architect but try to change urban development in his country. He has pioneered ways to develop community-oriented spaces using sustainable materials, allowing people in Rwanda to live and receive care with dignity.
