German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has reportedly expressed irritation over his junior coalition partners the Greens. According to the newspaper Die Welt, Schröder said at a meeting of his Social Democrats that he found it “sickening” how the Greens could not decide whether they wanted to be a part of the ruling coalition or an opposition party. The outburst was allegedly due to recent comments by Greens co-leader Angelika Beer, who said that Germany could soon send troops to Iraq if their deployment was covered by a United Nations resolution. Schröder has repeatedly said the German military would not take part in any peacekeeping missions in Iraq.
