SCO leaders counter US pressure with show of unity in China

The member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have pledged to strengthen security and economic ties. Among those who joined China's Xi Jinping for the summit were Russia's Vladimir Putin and India's Narendra Modi. The SCO covers 40% of the world's population.

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, China's Xi Jinping promoted cooperation in AI and space, while India and China signaled a diplomatic thaw. Russia's Vladimir Putin defended his stance on Ukraine, ahead of a military parade in Beijing seen as a challenge to US influence.
