With 3.2 million visitors last year, the Centre Pompidou is one of the hottest art spots in Paris. Now, it's offering one final flourish before packing up for its five-year creative break.

Paris' iconic Centre Pompidou, which welcomed 3.2 million visitors last year, will close on September 22 for a five-year renovation. Opened in 1977 and named after former President Georges Pompidou, the museum requires major repairs and asbestos removal, costing €262 million.

Before closing, it's hosting a final exhibition by German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans. Visitors are enjoying the quieter atmosphere, making it a hidden gem amid the busy tourist season.

The grand reopening is planned for 2030.
