Self-Driving Truck: the Mercedes Actros

Mercedes sends the world’s first self-driving, series-production truck onto the public highway. It's a step on the way to launching a self-driving truck onto the market.

The Highway Pilot is similar to an airplane’s autopilot mode. While the system can fully operate the truck on highways, the driver still needs to observe the traffic and be ready to take back control at any time if necessary. With the premiere of the new Actros, Mercedes is celebrating an important step towards releasing a self-driving truck onto the market.
