Senegal students feel betrayed, fear for future

A student's death during protests at Senegal's top university has become a symbol of growing frustration among young people, who say the government they helped bring to power has failed to deliver on its promises.

Deadly unrest at Senegal's Cheikh Anta Diop University has left students injured and campuses closed. Many say police raided dorms without provocation amid anger over unpaid scholarships and rising economic strain. Once supporters of the current government, students now feel betrayed as their studies stall and their futures remain uncertain.
