At one site near the Pyrenees engineers are testing how CO2 can be captured from a power plant, compressed, and stored in a former natural gas deposit. Over the next two years they hope to sequester 120,000 tons of CO2. Researchers are monitoring a 10-kilometer zone around the site to see if the gas escapes or the geological stability is affected.
