Sir Edmund Hillary dies at the age of 88 - je 11.01.2008 08

One of the world's great adventurers and the first person to climb Mount Everest -- Sir Edmund Hillary -- has died at the age of 88. Hospital officials in New Zealand said that Hillary had suffered a heart attack after a spell of bad health. The New Zealander won international fame in 1953 after conquering the world's highest mountain.
