During the colonial era, the town of Santa Cruz de Mompox on the Rio Magdalena enjoyed a high strategic and economic importance. Afterward, it gradually sank into a long, deep slumber. But the young, dynamic bakery owner Javier Cardenas says Mompox still has lots of potential.
