Talks between government and opposition leaders have made progress in Switzerland, but a peaceful solution to the conflict in Syria remains a long way off. Lakhdar Brahimi, the United Nations mediator at the conference, revealed that the Syrian government is allowing women and children to leave the embattled city of Homs.
