Smog chokes New Delhi despite India's push against pollution

Water sprinklers and a ban on diesel trucks are just two of the measures Indian authorities have put in place to improve air quality in the capital New Delhi — so far without much success.

A thick smog blankets New Delhi as winter pollution spikes, trapping emissions from vehicles and crop burning.

Residents struggle with poor visibility and health risks, while authorities deploy water sprinklers, ban older diesel trucks, and halt construction.

India's Supreme Court warns that short-term measures have failed and long-term planning is crucial.
