The horseshoe whip snake is an invasive species that has been thriving on the Balearic Islands. Scientists and farmers are alarmed that the snake poses a threat to native animals.

The non-native horseshoe whip snake is spreading fast across Mallorca, threatening local wildlife and agriculture. Wildlife experts and farmers are setting traps to control the population. With no natural predators and a growing impact on native species, the snakes are here to stay—forcing the island to adapt.
