Rioters mobilized to storm the US Capitol predominantly on social media. When Facebook, Twitter and other major networks started removing the most extreme posts, users migrated to platforms like Parler and MeWe.

Free speech on social networks

Conservative users are increasingly jumping ship from major social networks like Facebook and Twitter, and heading for platforms like Parler, Gab and MeWe. Many feel their right to freedom of speech is under threat.
