Power outages can be life threatening for preemies. One man has invented a solar-powered incubator to save them. The device is also creating jobs locally.

In northern Cameroon, premature babies like Nachma survive thanks to locally made hybrid incubators that run on solar power and electricity. Frequent outages once put lives at risk, but entrepreneur Serge Ndjidjou developed this solution after witnessing a tragic loss. Built in Yaoundé, over 200 units have been sold, creating jobs and boosting renewable energy use. These incubators save lives and support hospitals in remote areas.
