Extreme heat and frequent wildfires are testing Spain’s appeal as a top summer holiday destination. In Valencia, temperatures above 40°C (104°F) and the city’s first-ever red heat  alert have prompted authorities to expand cooling shelters and provide safety guidance for tourists. While some visitors struggle with the heat,  beaches remain busy. At the same time, devastating wildfires,  including a deadly blaze in Andalusia, have raised concerns about climate risks. Despite the challenges, Spain is still expecting a record year for tourism.
