Spain: The Stolen Children

Tens of thousands of children are believed to have been taken away from their mothers during Franco's regime and placed with adoptive parents. Now they're demanding investigations.

In some cases, children with ear infections admitted to hospital allegedly died there. But did they? A growing movement in Spain claims that thousands of babies were trafficked during General Franco's dictatorship with the help of crooked doctors and lawyers - but producing evidence is far from straightforward. Hundreds of criminal complaints have now been registered in the courts.
