In November 1989, when the Berlin Wall fell, football in the GDR didn't look too bad. The league was full of promising talents like Kirsten and Sammer. 30 years later not a single team from the GDR first division in 1989 is even close to playing in the Bundesliga. Dresden is in the 3rd league and record champions Dynamo Berlin are stuck in the fourth.
