Staging the Revolution? - The Belarus Free Theater in Minsk

Belarus is ruled by President Alexander Lukashenko with an iron fist. The country has been called the last remaining dictatorship in Europe, and its citizens lack basic political freedoms, including freedom of expression. But the Belarus Free Theater has managed to continue its work, albeit underground.

Its founders have been forced into exile and now can only appear in performances abroad. Arts.21 watched a secret rehearsal in Minsk, and a guest performance in Rome.
