Scientists are hoping that stem cell research will lead them to technologies that will enable them to cure diseases like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. Researchers in Bonn are working together with Israeli scientists at the Technion Institute in Haifa to standardize the procedure for generating large numbers of stem cells of consistent quality.

Those cells could then be used, for example, to perform laboratory tests on the active ingredients of drugs for treating neurodegenerative diseases.
