Marius Borg Hoiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of the heir to the Norwegian throne, has been found guilty of two charges of rape and sentenced to four years in prison.

An Oslo court has convicted 29-year-old Marius Borg Hoiby of rape as well as 32 other offences, including domestic abuse, drug crimes and traffic violations. Hoiby is Mette-Marit's son from a relationship prior to her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, and has been in the royal household since he was a young child. The high-profile court case has dented the picture-perfect image of the Norwegian monarchy. Hoiby denied the most serious accusations against him, including several counts of rape when the victims were asleep or unconscious. Prosecutors say the case shows no one is above the law.
