The company behind the production said "The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs" would focus on the complicated relationships at work and at home of a man known for his brilliant mind yet bristly demeanor, according to #link:http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/arts/culture/la-et-cm-steve-jobs-opera-20150805-story.html:a report in The Los Angeles Times#.

It will feature characters based on Jobs' father, Paul, as well as his wife, Laurene Powell Jobs. It could even touch upon the tumultuous relationship the Apple co-founder had with the mother of his first child, who he spent years denying was his biological daughter.

For the score, the #link:https://www.santafeopera.org/:Santa Fe Opera# commissioned composer Mason Bates and librettist Mark Campbell. Both have earned international acclaim through their work.

Campbell won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for the opera, "Silent Night," while Bates created the highly acclaimed "Omnivorous Furniture," which combines orchestral and electronic music.

The production will be directed by Kevin Newbury and conducted by Michael Christie from the Minnesota Opera.

The company did not give an exact release date for the opera, saying only that it was scheduled to come out in 2017.
