Heavy rain and strong winds have been battering the United Kingdom and Ireland. Storm Chandra has caused widespread flooding and travel disruption and has closed hundreds of schools across the region.

Severe flooding has hit southeast Ireland after the River Slaney overflowed, turning streets into rivers and inundating homes. Residents in Wexford and Dublin describe deep water, sewage backup and widespread destruction. Storms also triggered wind warnings in Northern Ireland, leaving tens of thousands of households on both sides of the border without power.
