Floods and landslides have killed at least 860 people in Indonesia. Many villages remain buried under mud and debris. On the island of Sumatra, DW's Jakarta correspondent met a woman who lost her home in the disaster.

Deadly floods and landslides have devastated Northern Sumatra, leaving villages cut off and homes buried under mud.

Survivors like Danni Sianipar escaped as a mountainside collapsed on her house. Roads are destroyed, and aid only reached some areas after days.

The Indonesian military is now delivering food and medical supplies by foot and helicopter, as soaked soil and heavy rain raise fears of more landslides.
