Opel has revamped its successful Mokka model, giving it a new compact, all-aluminum four-cylinder diesel engine.

The new 1.6 CDTI engine generates 100 kW of power and a maximum torque of 320 Nm. Despite being more powerful than its predecessor, it has a much lower fuel consumption. With the six-gear transmission, Opel says the Mokka uses an average of 4.1 liters of diesel for 100 km. The new engine is also designed to be quieter and have improved emissions. We took it for a spin, to discover if all that bears out in practice.
