Tens of thousands of supporters of deposed Thai premier Thaksin Shinawat gathter in Bangkok to demand the government's resignation

Tens of thousands protesters have gathered in the Thai capital Bangkok calling on the government to step down. The so-called red shirt supporters of deposed former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawat have issued an ustimatum to call new elections or face further demonstrations. Thousands of security forces are on the streets. The protests are part of ongoing divisions between the government and the opposition.
