Indonesia is experiencing its most significant unrest in over two decades, with police reporting several fatalities and more than 1,200 arrests. Protests were triggered by concerns over rising living costs and benefits granted to lawmakers.

Indonesia is facing its worst unrest in over 20 years, as nationwide protests erupt over rising living costs and excessive perks for lawmakers. Despite President Prabowo Subianto's pledge to revoke some benefits and deploy security forces, public anger remains high. Demonstrators have torched government buildings, and over 1,200 arrests have been made. The United Nations is urging restraint and an investigation into alleged human rights abuses.
