Terrorist attacks in Bombay: background information - je 27.11.2008 16

There has been a wave of bombings in Indian cities in recent months which has left scores of people dead. Bombay itself has also been attacked in the past - with police accusing Pakistan's intelligence agency of being behind the killings. But the latest shootings come at a time when ties between India and Pakistan have improved. The two countries have a joint anti-terror mechanism whereby they are supposed to share information on terrorist attacks. Such programs are indispensible for cities like Bombay - whose sheer size can help terrorists remain undetected.
