Since 1993, the C class - Mercedes' smallest rear-wheel drive vehicle - has been its mid-range flagship. Drive It compared a 1996 car with the 150-kilowatt C250 Bluetec Diesel.

The first generation C180 from 1996 had a 90-kilowatt, four-cylinder engine. The design of the old and new Mercedes has changed considerably, and that's not all. The technology also progressed a lot in the past two decades. For example, the new C class is the first car of its type to have a fully adjustable Air Ride system.
