Thai industries on low-carbon path

Energy use is rising rapidly in emerging economies, especially those with strong export industries. The result is growing carbon emissions and soaring energy prices. That’s why energy efficiency is becoming ever more important – both to protect the climate and for companies’ bottom lines. In Thailand, local energy consultants, with international help, are helping companies streamline their production processes so that they use less energy without compromising on economic output. The Thai government is hoping to use the project as a model to promote more public consciousness about energy use. Bangkok wants to reduce carbon emissions in the industrial production sector by nearly 20 percent in the coming years.
