Tamara Flores fuses her Austro-Mexican heritage and plays with feminist references in her work. For the video "Chingona," everyone in her mother's hometown got involved — something she wouldn't expect in Vienna.

Tamara Flores is a 28-year-old singer, dancer and flutist from Vienna. Her music is a mix of indie pop, Latin, rock and classical elements.

For a long time, Tamara felt like she was in between two cultures because she felt neither Mexican nor Austrian enough. Now, she embraces her cultural heritage and fuses it in her feminist art.

The music video to her song "Chingona" (which means "strong, badass woman") really made waves, drawing comparisons with the world-famous Rosalia.

While filming in her mother's native Acatlan in Mexico, the whole town came out to support Tamara — whether by playing an extra, opening their homes or lending her a horse.

This level of hospitality is something she wouldn't necessarily expect in Vienna. Although the Austrian capital consistently ranks among the world's most livable cities, it does have a reputation for residents who like to grumble.
