In Lübeck, Germany, residents have transformed unused plots into vibrant edible gardens, growing herbs, vegetables, and fruit trees as part of the "Essbare Stadt" – or "Edible City" initiative. Thousands of seedlings have been planted, with children learning about sustainable farming and climate care. Meanwhile, in Chennai, India, rooftop gardens are helping combat heat and food insecurity. With nearly 170 school rooftops now green, the Urban Farming Initiative is aiming to boost Chennai’s resilience against floods, droughtsand rising temperatures. Across continents, community efforts to reclaim urban space and build a greener, healthier home are bearing fruit.
