Pitching computer gamers from all over the world against one another, eSports leagues are the latest worldwide phenomenon. These days, top gamers can earn hundreds and even thousands of euros a year in prize money.

Electronic sports - also known as eSports - is the new buzzword and what it means is the competitive playing of multiplayer computer and video games. China and South Korea are the first countries to recognize eSport as an official discipline, but games are played competitively at amateur, semi-professional and professional levels all over the world. Some games have organized competitions in the form of leagues and tournaments with lucrative prizes. The pros can earn up to 200,000 euros a year. We checked out the scene at a Starcraft knockout round with 64 participants in Berlin.
