The EU approves billions of euros in emergency aid for Athens

International bankers have welcomed agreements by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund to bail out Greece and have promised to do their share to support the measures. The Institute of International Finance, a lobby group representing some of the world's top banks, says it supports the three-year adjustment program adopted by Greece. Athens has pledged an additional 30-billion euros in spending cuts to qualify for the loans.
