The world’s biggest toymaker, Mattel, agreed on Monday to pay 12- Mmillion dollars to 39 US states to settle claims that it shipped toys tainted with lead paint imported from China. On this side of the Atlantic, the European Union is taking steps to help prohibit the import of toxic toys.
